After a Deadly Crash, Amazon Stops Working with a Transportation Company

The company that flew a cargo jet that was involved in a deadly crash in Miami this month has been suspended by e-commerce behemoth Amazon. An Amazon representative stated on Sunday, “We’ve decided to halt our operations with 21 Air after spending time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances following the tragic incident last weekend.” Five persons were killed when a Boeing aircraft operated by 21 Air overshot a runway at Miami International Airport on September 6 and struck multiple cars.

21 Air has been contacted by the BBC for comment. The company earlier declared that it was “devastated by the accident” and that it is assisting law enforcement in their investigation. The collision is being investigated by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). According to Kelly Nantel, a representative for Amazon, “Safety has always been our top priority, whether in our own operations or when we’re working with partners.”We’ll keep up our efforts to assist the investigation and all those impacted,” she continued.

Major companies like Amazon and DHL use 21 Air, an all-cargo airline. After taking off from San Juan, Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, the cargo airliner, a Boeing 767-300, crashed in Miami. The plane skidded to a stop after overshooting the runway and colliding with neighbouring cars.
