UAE and Malaysia sign Accord to Rescue Endangered Malayan Tigers

Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of UAE Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Regent of Pahang; and Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, witnessed the signing of a landmark agreement between the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation.

The agreement, inked during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, comprises a $22 million grant from the MBZF to Enggang Management Services over five years. The funds will go towards the Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve, which is 1,340 square kilometres in size and adjacent to Taman Negara National Park.

This program would create a favourable habitat for the conservation of the critically endangered Malayan tiger and other threatened wildlife in Malaysia’s wilderness. Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Erth Zayed Philanthropies, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in biodiversity preservation, conservation efforts, and ecosystem stabilisation.
