According to a major adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainians have perished because Kyiv is still not getting trustworthy US warnings of impending Russian assaults. “It’s dangerous… I think it’s really very bad… People [have] already died,” Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov told the BBC, citing the lack of time to warn civilians about ballistic missile strikes as the reason for the deaths. The advisor added that there were still limitations on Ukraine’s access to the Starlink internet network.
According to the White House, intelligence sharing with Ukraine has not changed. As tensions with the Trump administration over its contentious agreement to import Russian oil plunged relations to all-time lows, Ukraine initially reported a suspension to US intelligence collaboration last week. Many in Kyiv believe the problems are not coincidental, despite Washington’s assertions.
Zelensky posted the following on social media early on Monday: “Overnight two ballistic missile attacks were reported on the capital, one without warning, the second with only minimal time to take shelter.” The president stated that intelligence sharing had resumed following a three-day halt in an interview with NBC that was released hours earlier.
