RIYADH: The number of nonprofit organizations in Saudi Arabia increased by 72 in March, contributing to the sector’s 1.4% monthly growth The National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development issued official statistics indicating that there are currently 4,721 bodies registered in this sector, up 182 percent from 2018.
According to a Saudi Press Agency article, 57 civic associations, seven civil society organizations, and eight family funds were established in the Kingdom in March. It attained advanced levels of governance in 2023, demonstrating the sector organizations’ dedication to comply with the designated development roles.
According to SPA, many non-profit organizations and individuals were also the targets of decisions issued by the Center. These decisions included four warnings against civil society organizations, four decisions for the dismissal of members of the boards of directors of civil society organizations, and a decision to temporarily bar an employee from working in the industry. The minister of human resources and social development gave a speech at the Second Annual Forum for Non-Governmental Organizations in Riyadh to highlight how well bodies in the sector are run.
