The 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024) featured the third board meeting of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), which was presided over by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi. The board examined the status of the authority’s recent activities, talked about SBA’s strategic plans to expand its influence globally, and developed beneficial relationships for Emirati publishers.
Sheikha Bodour began by thanking His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council, for his visionary leadership, which supports SBA’s worldwide engagement mission through his commitment to cultural diplomacy.
She cited the Arab Cultural Institute’s recent founding in Milan as a trailblazing initiative to introduce Arab culture to the global community. SBA has big ambitions to establish similar institutes in key global cities, to foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. Reaffirming SBA’s commitment to innovation, Sheikha Bodour announced that digital transformation remains a key focus in the authority’s forward-looking strategy. “Digital advancements are essential to amplifying the reach and impact of SIBF and SBA’s wider initiatives,” she stated, emphasising the role of technology in advancing the authority’s mission.
