IMF Managing Director Abdullah Examines the State of the World Economy

On the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2025, which is taking place in Dubai until February 13th with the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on Monday.

Kristalina Georgieva was welcomed by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed, who also spoke on the UAE-IMF cooperation, the state of the world economy, and strategies to strengthen international efforts to create a sustainable global economic system.

The significance of embracing creative solutions to regional and global problems, promoting global economic expansion, and aiding community-based sustainable development projects were also emphasised at the gathering.

Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, attended the meeting.

Global growth is expected to stay at 3.3% this year and next, according to the International Monterey Fund (IMF), before lowering to slightly over 3% during the following five years, which is much less than the historical norm.
