The 11th Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth was underway on Sunday evening. It is sponsored by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council.
A distinguished group of artists, directors, filmmakers, and international guests, including Yousra, Huda Hussein, Jaber Naghmoush, Ahmed Al Jasmi, and Shajoun, were among the notable attendees, along with Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director-General of the Fann Foundation and the festival.
Palestine was acknowledged as the inaugural guest of the “Guest of Honour” program, which was introduced at the festival’s opening ceremony at the Sharjah Academy for Performing Arts. This event honours Palestine’s rich history, contributions to film, and cultural impact on Arab cinema.
A carefully chosen selection of Palestinian films will be shown at the festival, which runs until October 12, giving viewers the chance to learn more about the complexities of Palestinian society, culture, and cinematic history. These pieces demonstrate the development of Palestinian cinema, which has won praise from all over the world and been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Film category.
