The 30th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress and Exhibition was opened on Monday by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The event, which is a premier worldwide forum for influencing the direction of mobility, takes place from September 16–20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The European Intelligent Transport Systems Organisation (ERTICO), in partnership with ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific, is organizing the event for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) under the theme “Mobility Empowered.
The Congress is anticipated to draw approximately 20,000 attendees from 100 different countries, which will be the largest turnout in the Congress’s history. There will be more than 800 speakers, 200 scientific and discussion sessions, 500 exhibitors, and top authorities and decision-makers in the field of sustainable mobility. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Dr. Angelos Amditis, Director General of ERTICO (Europe), greeted Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed. Leading members of the international ITS community, as well as global authorities on intelligent transportation, attended the opening ceremony.
