While on a three-day visit to the US, President Joe Biden received a unique train model engraved in ancient silver from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Made of 92.5 percent silver, this vintage train model with hand engravings is an exceptional and uncommon piece that was expertly fashioned by artists from Maharashtra, a state known for its rich legacy in silver artistry. The model has been altered to symbolise the close ties between the US and India.
Following the normal format used on Indian passenger trains, “INDIAN RAILWAYS” has been printed in both Hindi and English on the sides of the engine, while “DELHI – DELAWARE” has been inscribed on the sides of the main carriage.
This work of art blends historical relevance with creative brilliance to pay homage to the steam locomotive era. This masterwork is a magnificent testament to the long history of Indian Railways and its worldwide significance, showcasing the artisan’s extraordinary ability.
Following a warm greeting upon his arrival in Philadelphia on Saturday, PM Modi had private meetings with President Biden and other Quad grouping leaders, such as Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Australian PM Anthony Albanese. On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi landed in New York on the second day of his three-day tour.
