As the Trump-Musk Dispute Rages, the White House Examines SpaceX Contracts, According to Sources

Following the public spat between billionaire Elon Musk and President Donald Trump earlier this month, the White House ordered the Defence Department and NASA to collect information on billions of dollars in SpaceX contracts, four people familiar with the request told Reuters.

According to these sources, the administration instructed the agencies to examine Musk’s contracts to prepare any retribution against the tycoon and his firms, which sparked an ongoing review. According to a Thursday Reuters story, Pentagon officials are debating whether to lessen Musk’s space and satellite business, SpaceX, potential contribution to a large-scale new US missile defence system.

Reuters could not ascertain whether the White House plans to terminate any of SpaceX’s current $22 billion federal contracts. However, the analysis reveals that the government is acting on Trump’s warning to potentially stop funding and commercial dealings with Musk’s enterprises, which he made during his spat last week. On June 6, the president told reporters on board Air Force One, “We’ll look at everything.”

In an email, a White House official told Reuters that the “Trump administration is committed to a rigorous review process for all bids and contracts.” Still, she did not respond to enquiries concerning Musk’s company. A NASA representative claimed in a different statement that the organisation.
