The most recent data from the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) shows that the total number of ATMs operated by banks in the UAE climbed by 15, to 4,669 ATMs at the end of Q1 2024.
The UAE’s banking and financial sector has seen rapid technological and structural advancements, which are reflected in the growth of ATMs there. These improvements also greatly improve security and operational effectiveness.
The total number of locally incorporated banks (apart from investment banks) rose by one bank to 23 by the end of the first quarter of 2024. By the end of March 2024, only five locally incorporated bank branches remained out of a total of 484 branches.
By the end of Q1 2024, the number of banks’ electronic banking service units stayed at 46. Similarly, as of the end of March 2024, there were 21 Cash Offices, a constant number.
After the first quarter of 2024, there were six GCC banks total, plus one wholesale GCC bank. By the end of March 2024, these banks’ six branches will likewise remain the same.
By the end of Q1 2024, the number of electronic banking service units (EBUs) operated by the banks remained at 21, while the number of other foreign banks was 21, with 66 branches.
